Regulations on electronic identification for enterprises

Electronic identity is information of an enterprise in the electronic identification and authentication system that allows to uniquely identify that enterprise in the electronic environment. According to Article 6 of Decree 69/2024/ND-CP, electronic identity is like a "Citizen ID" of an enterprise, including basic information of the enterprise:

  1. Legal representative of the enterprise
  2. Enterprise registration number
  3. Tax code
  4. Identification number
  5. Head office address
  6. Time of establishment of the enterprise

Procedures for registering electronic identification of enterprises

According to Article 12 of Decree 69/2024/ND-CP, the procedures for granting electronic identification accounts to enterprises are carried out in the following order:

Step 1: Submit documents

  • In case of not being submitted directly, the legal representative, head of the enterprise or authorized person uses his/her level 02 electronic identification account to log in to the National Identification Application (VNeID) to carry out the procedure.
  • In case of direct submission of documents, the legal representative, head of the enterprise or authorized person shall declare the Application for issuance of an electronic identification account for the enterprise and submit the documents to the Electronic Identification and Authentication Management Agency or the ID management agency at a convenient location.

Step 2: The electronic identification and authentication management agency checks and authenticates the documents.

  • For information that needs to be authenticated about the enterprise that is already in the national database or specialized database, the deadline for notification of registration results for identity account is 03 working days.
  • For information that needs to be verified about the enterprise that is not in the national database or specialized database, the deadline for notifying the results of the registration for an identification account is no more than 15 working days.

Step 3: Notification of registration results for identity account issuance

The electronic identification and authentication management agency shall notify the results of the registration for granting an electronic identification account to the legal representative, head of the agency or organization performing the procedure via the National Identification Application or the owner's mobile phone number or email address.

Reasons why businesses should do electronic identification procedures

Electronic identification helps save costs related to administrative procedures of enterprises, reduce paperwork, costs and time for procedures when the enterprise information has been "integrated" into a separate identification account. When having an electronic identification account, enterprises will be able to use electronic services, grasp relevant information quickly, thereby improving the efficiency of business operations. In addition, this also improves the image, demonstrates professionalism and compliance with the law of the enterprise.
